Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC)
The NPRF is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC). Membership of the AMRC has several requirements, including publishing a research strategy, advertising invitations for grant applications in an open and transparent manner and using appropriate peer review in the allocation of grants and awards for research. The NPRF has adopted the AMRC rules and guidelines in pursuing its research aims and has adopted the AMRC’s statement on the use of animals in research.
AMRC members must adhere to high standards of transparency and peer review in awarding grants. Grants awarded by AMRC members to Universities attract Government overhead funding which is an important benefit for the recipient.
The NPRF developed its research strategy after consulting with professionals in the field.
We have also formed a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to assist the Board of Trustees in considering grant applications. The SAB comprises individuals with experience in clinical care, research, science, industry and the charity sector.
